Where to begin, where to begin.
First off, I've had a hardback copy as well as an ARC of this book untouched on my shelf for the longest time. A while ago I saw a picture of Theo James playing Four and I knew I had to read the book, being a huge fan of Theo James. This morning I thought that I'd finally get off my butt and pick up the book. I was a little hesitant because it was a dystopian and I was afraid there wasn't going to be much of a romance. I've never read The Hunger Games (don't shoot me please) so I wasn't sure what I was getting myself into. But oh man, was I wrong to wait so long!
Beatrice Prior and her family are settled in abnegation (the selfless) and as the choosing is coming up, Beatrice is worried about where she is going to be placed. She hates the idea to leave her family but she knows that she does not quite fit in with the selfless she is supposed to be living. To make matters worse, when she goes to the simulation to decide her fate the results end up being inconclusive. Not wanting to stay in a place she knows that she will not be happy in, Beatrice choses the becomes a Dauntless and renames herself as Tris.
As the new recruits for the Dauntless, Tris is the only one coming from Abnegation and it makes matters all the worse for Tris. She is having a hard time figuring out who she is, who her true friends are, avoiding those who are trying to destroy her, to stay in the game and come in the final ten that will become permanent members of the Dauntless, and let's not forget the (maybe?) sparking romance with a certain older boy.
Roth wrote beautifully in Tris's POV. At every step of the way it felt like I was actually Tris myself in the simulations and all of the emotions she was feeling. Tris is a sixteen year old girl trying to figure out the world and you can easily tell that as well as seeing her grow from the unsure Abnegation to the strong Dauntless. Tris had some amazing friends to support her through her struggles and I don't think that she would have been able to do that without them.
Divergent had me sitting on the edge of my bed giggling and yearning for the next! Hate that I waited so long and I don't plan to make that same mistake when it comes to reading the next. If you haven't read it yet, what are you waiting for? Don't pull a move like me and wait till you find out Theo James is playing in the movie (CAUSE HE IS) so pick up that book, imagine Theo James as Four (Which I totally did, made it all the better) and read that book!
And for your entertaining proposes, check out the IMDB for Divergent! Seriously.

Pawtastic!

Summary:
In Beatrice Prior's dystopian Chicago, society is divided into five factions, each dedicated to the cultivation of a particular virtue—Candor (the honest), Abnegation (the selfless), Dauntless (the brave), Amity (the peaceful), and Erudite (the intelligent). On an appointed day of every year, all sixteen-year-olds must select the faction to which they will devote the rest of their lives. For Beatrice, the decision is between staying with her family and being who she really is—she can't have both. So she makes a choice that surprises everyone, including herself.
During the highly competitive initiation that follows, Beatrice renames herself Tris and struggles to determine who her friends really are. But Tris also has a secret, one she's kept hidden from everyone because she's been warned it can mean death. And as she discovers a growing conflict that threatens to unravel her seemingly perfect society, she also learns that her secret might help her save those she loves… or it might destroy her.
